OAL Gauge Case Question

A local smith posted he’s cutting cases for Hornady OAL gauges, and I know I want a case fired from my rifle, but what else needs to be done?

I saw a video on YouTube and the guy was FL sizing and messing with necks. That seems to negate the fact that the case was fired in your chamber. But at the same time it seems like you have to do something for neck tension.

Any advice before I take a Lapua case and $10 to his shop tomorrow?

Shouldn't have to do anything. Take a bullet and see if you have a slip fit in the neck. That's what you are after and most of the fired cases I have played with is about perfect. You can always take a piece of Emery cloth to open it up slightly if need be.
