Okay, not looking to start a fanboys v. haters thread here...

That said, I bought my OBR brand new for $2500 in fall of 2010 after being on their initial order list while I was deployed... and it included a scope mount... Now I see they are pretty much at $3400. That seems like a hell of a jump (call it $1100 with scope mount in two years). Does this seem reasonable?

I've not kept up on prices of the GAP-10, POF, LMT and the like; what are they running right now similarly equipped? Tried to look on GAP's page, but it seems their server is down.

Re: OBR pricing

Okay so looks like POF is about $3k.

My next talking point/question... What were the prices like on these other rifles two years ago? Is it a case of LT just selling the first rifles ridiculously below market value to really thrust themselves into the market? Or have the prices on these rifles really gone up THAT much?

Re: OBR pricing

Gap is 2640 I believe. It used to be 2600 IIRC.

DPMS is still hovering at 1k and RRA at 1.1k.

My guess? They raised because they can. Working less and still making the same money. Or, still making same number of rifles just charging more because they have people standing in line wanting one.

Who knows. I know old Mark is gaming for Gov contracts....so maybe thats a reason why he raised the price.

$800 difference?!?!? I don't really think the DPMS and RRA compare to the OBR...

Anyway, I hadn't looked at the numbers, but thought I'd heard there was a sizable price difference. No way I'd recommend an OBR to someone when you can have a GAP-10 for $800 less! I love my OBR, and I'm glad that it's value has gone up for me personally, but I do not think that highly of it to pay an $800 premium for it... over a rifle that really is a custom. Just seems nutty.

But anyway, I guess that seals the deal- had a couple people asking about my OBR and other .308's... I know the direction I will NOT be sending them.

You are right the DPMS and RRA dont really compare but theyre prices have stayed fairly steady.

Just keep in mind the options, base rifle is 2640 but when you add a switchblock like Larues and 5/8x24 threading there isnt that much of a price difference. Switchblock is 210 IF I remember. Threading is 155.

Re: OBR pricing

It went from 3000 to its current price just a few months ago. I picked one up just before they raised their prices. Maybe manufacturing or vendor costs are going up, but it is a big jump in price.

Re: OBR pricing

Pounding steel at 600 with the 16" barrell POF gets boring. I need a longer shot here in Middle Tennessee. If you are interested in the POF's, ask for Felix and tell him John referred you to him: http://www.avguns.com/main.html

No credit card charges and no shipping charge. Frank at POF stands behind their product and has great customer service. AND their price is lower than the above mentioned $2,500.00.

Very valid point that I had not even taken into consideration. For some reason I just assumed the barrel was threaded and hadn't thought of the gas block. So I suppose they are still a decent option. Just not the value they were two years ago

Someone said POF is $2600... their site shows $3k. Is their site not accurate?

The MSRP is $3000, that's the manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price. If you buy from AVGuns.com, it can be had for $2500.

Re: OBR pricing

Okay gotcha- I had kind of assumed they had a sort of MAP policy and the price show would be what one would expect to pay.

So that puts the POF in-line with the GAP-10 for price. Is their gas system adjustable? I've never even touched a POF.

Re: OBR pricing

I got mine from a dealer back when website pricing for a basic was $3k with a 14 week wait.

I got mine shipped in from Hawaii for like $3k flat including shipping with the CTR/RISR upgrade and a zero week wait time. I think I ordered it on a Friday and had it on Wednesday.

Its not like those folks are twiddling their thumbs waiting for the phone to ring with an order. Price is one of the few variables you can adjust to bring demand in line with availability.

I know ML gets little love around here, and I've had my issues with those folks in the past year, but they make a damn good product.

Yes, it's a three position gas plug for unsuppressed, suppressed, and turning the gas off entirely.

Re: OBR pricing

The stated reason for the price increase was an adjustment for the price of raw materials. It was a ~20% hike across the board for all of their in-house manufactured products (the OBR is manufactured in-house with the exception of the barrel).

They obviously aren't struggling to sell products so I can't really blame them for deciding to make an adjustment, I'm just glad I got mine before the price hike.

Also, the $2500 price was a special "pre-order" price that didn't last very long and also came with some extras, from what I remember.

Re: OBR pricing

I have bought their products in the past, including a pre order OBR, but i was on their sight last week looking and really noticed the increased prices, especially on their mounts. they have a real following so im sure people will still buy. but wow, spendy..
