I want to try the OCW method for my two powders and I've read various versions of it, so I thought I'd run it by you guys. I set up a spreadsheet and listed book max and what the max seems to be in my weapon (where pressure signs show up), etc. My rifle seems to be more accurate the hotter the load across all three powders I've tried, so I started with the "hot load for my rifle" and moved backwards for the measurements. Round Robin strings ... choose top three POI, select middle load and run OCW again in smaller grain increments around that node.

After running thru this series and choosing the load, I was going to run tests on seating depth/OAL, starting at 2.790 and ending at 2.840. Gotta measure the distance to the lands. Might go further if they'll still cycle thru the mag.

Weapon is Savage FCP-K w/ 24" fluted bbl, shark brake. Bullet is 168gr SMK and will be 168gr Amax at some point.

Have I forgotten anything on the OCW? Any suggestions for improvement?

Looks good. I set up a similar pre-labeled system, one set to write on in the book, the other set to stick next to the bullet holes. Works great.

Running OCW test this is what I do just to compare run OCW test round robin ( for .308 .3 each load) 3 rounds. Pull the loads that have common POI as many as there are, some powders have a wide accuracy window. Shoot one each of those at 300 yds. to confirm common POI, should impact less than 1 MOA ( usually a lot tighter). Then the selected OCW round go to work seating depht. IMO smaller grain increment testing in not needed not will it tell you anything additional, too small. If you have done test ( read it right) and found the OCW, small changes with in the zone are not going to change anything.

Just my opinion every one has to chose there system, taht the thing about the OCW simple, few rounds and your done.
