Probably for the best. No one really wanted to go anyway. Are they at least refunding or they holding it and applying till following year

I feel bad for the show folks that Covid up and shit all over them but I know I wasn't planning on going and I expect a lot of others were also going to sit out the year. I remember Frank talking on the podcast about skipping and how excited he is to get a week of his life and all the prep time he spends back. Dealing with whatever the airlines were doing + whatever the casinos were doing + whatever ShotShow would have to do is a big ask this year. On top of that I know a lot of gun companies were having such a good sales year that they didn't want to loose the production time for their key personnel. When your selling quicker than you can make, advertisement doesn't look like such a priority.

    Probably all for the best.

    Yes, I am so happy

    NSSF® Announces 2021 SHOT Show® Cancellation

Statement from NSSF President & CEO Joe Bartozzi:

Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the world, NSSF, the firearm industry trade association, today makes the difficult announcement that the 2021 SHOT Show has been cancelled.

NSSF has remained in constant communication with Nevada officials throughout the year in our planning for the 2021 show. While there has been a concerted effort to expand the allowable levels for large gatherings by the county and state, with positivity rates peaking during our key planning period we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 show. Sadly, these spikes are currently transpiring worldwide. Given the sheer complexities, diminishing timeline and immense logistical planning required to conduct a trade show as large as SHOT, NSSF simply could not move forward at this point with so many unknowns and variables. We truly appreciate the guidance of Nevada and Las Vegas officials in allowing us to communicate this news to our exhibitors and attendees well in advance of the show. We would also like to thank the Sands directly for their help and efforts to navigate this unprecedented situation.

The planning and work that has gone into the 2021 SHOT Show has been nothing short of remarkable. Since the pandemic began in early 2020, the NSSF staff and our show partners have been working around the clock to plan our largest show in history while keeping the health and safety of all involved as paramount.

The support of our show exhibitors this year has also been nothing short of remarkable. With three months to go until the show, floor space for both the Sands Expo Center and our expansion to the new Caesars Forum was nearly sold out, with more companies than ever before represented at the SHOT Show.

All of this positions us for a 2022 SHOT Show that will be undoubtedly the best in our industry’s history, and we look forward to bringing our entire community together again at a show that will be one to remember.

During the coming year, NSSF asks for our industry’s unwavering support as we continue our fight to promote, protect and preserve our industry in these unsettling times.

Throughout this year, NSSF has remained at the forefront for our industry. As thousands of businesses across the country were shuttered as being “non-essential” during the pandemic, NSSF worked nonstop to have firearm retailers, ranges, manufacturers and distributors listed as “essential” which allowed them to remain open for business.

NSSF is your trade association. Everything we do—from education, safety initiatives, compliance and security resources, import/export guidance, consumer activation initiatives, government relations, and the SHOT Show—is aimed at helping businesses in our industry succeed. Now, more than ever, we need your continued support.

Feel bad for the small companies that need to make sales at SHOT to survive.
I'm just trying to remember the last time SHOT had some big reveal that was worth the hype from the big players.

I may look at a streaming day for the site, maybe link a couple of companies to the Hide for a virtual show
I've already put that bug in a few of my old industry people's ear. I think skipping a year of SHOT will let a lot of the industry find out they won't really miss it. I always heard rumbling and grumbling about the time and dollars consumed by SHOT but no one walked away for fear of being destroyed by the rest of the industry because of it.
I for one really look forward to seeing the creativity some companies will use to get their new stuff "out there".

    Hi,

A Zoom feed thread would be pretty awesome, even without all the shot show shit.
A commercial sponsor being able to schedule a timeslot in which they advertise and market their product(s) on SH could definitely be an "Add On" service that SH offers.
Essentially a live 2-5 minute commercial that is dedicated to SH, its members and its commercial sponsors.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

Shot Show could hold a virtual shot show each manufacturer by zoom so the public could still see all the new products or each manufacturer do it separately.

Or have a website hosted by the NSSF and have each vendor showcase their new products.

    Oh noes!

Where else am I going to go to see the same shit rehashed 450809 different ways, vaporware that will never exist and a plethora of fat guys in tan 5.11 pants?

    :D

Don‘t forget the wheeled crates clogging the aisles. I always wear a coat, often with a real necktie.

Man that’s a bummer... folks are getting killed over here without the conventions, and that’s a big one.
CES also huge and I assume that’s cancelling too... hope they get back soon.

This should have been cancelled months ago. No way that I was going.

I think there is a limit to the number of people allowed in room now which is what killed it?

    Hi,

They could not cancel months ago because exhibitors had not made final payments on booth space.

They most definitely and purposely waiting until after all exhibitors had made final booth space payments.

That way the NSSF gets to keep half of the payments for the entire year of 2021 and apply them to 2022 Shot Show while they refund the other half right now.

They are banking on x number of exhibitors not being able to make the 2022 show in which their entire payment is forfeited and NSSF collects another full booth space payment from someone that was not paid on the 2021 floorplan.

IMO the way they handled it is going to highlight the how and why more and more manufacturers are going direct or as direct to consumer as possible which makes Shot Show not worth the investment to attend.

IMO we are getting ready to see firearm manufacturers (Small to Medium size, not the big ones) start setting up "transfer" networks instead of "dealer" networks. We already see it with optics manufacturers and such.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

I don't mean to sound mean to the NSSF but a lot of folks had their income slashed dramatically this year........

What would the format look like? Any chance a little dime in a star spangled bikini can help MC this thing? I could use a little patriotic morale boost.

My favorite chair, some cold beer, gun shopping and boobies are exactly what I need right now. Sounds better than shot show to me.
