This is really a question. I have been shooting the 215 bergers. Now I'm going for 230 OTM s. the ogive readings for the 215's are .825. The 230's are .910. So if I take .910 and subtract .825 then load 85/1000's shorter than my 215 load will that get me in the ball park area of where the bearing surface contacts. I know every design is different on the bearing surfaces of the bergers... Even lot to lot with the same bullet. But I was just wondering if this was a good way to find that sweet spot or if it has no merit at all. Thanks. AS

I sometimes shoot from the hip like you're trying also, in theory you're on target. But there's one equation not figured in, the seating stem on your die, will it grab both bullets the at the same place. For the amount of time it takes to pull the firing pin from the bolt, just get it right from the start!

Well here's what I did. I don't have my dang oal gauge so I just took a spent case from that rifle and crimped the mouth. You know ... The old market trick. Measured it , backed off 50/1000's. and will start to shoot from there. Generally speaking the 230 OTM is so damn easy to make shoot compared to the target hybrid. My opinion. I just don't want to jam em because for this particular bullet there's no reason too. As far as my die. For 140$ it better grab the damn thing in the same place. Redding comp seater

I'm with you on that, but if the ogive is even slightly different, the stem can grab it differently. I have Sinclair and Hornady comparators, you should see the diff as to where they measure the bullet.

I too use the comparator from hornady. That's how I got the math solution. And thank you miles. Yes ... Pain SUCKS
