FWIW...no...you can't fire the rifle in semi-auto with the stock folded. While it technically WILL fire, you will likely cause yourself/your firearm some "issues."

Yeah it's really more for ease of transport of longer barreled AR's like say a 24"-26" LR-308 with a PRS stock in say a hardcase. Lowlight recently got one in for review and hopefully will get that posted soon. It's really not for the super snipery mall ninja tacticool real world operator like yourself I'm sure.

PRS is already about a half inch longer than I prefer. Folder will add another 1.3" to the LOP. I'd like to put one of these on my carbine, though, because small guns are cool.
I don't see it as a drawback of the product that it won't enable you to shoot with the stock folded. The AR system itself was never designed or intended to have such capability and the act of putting a folding stock on it shouldn't override everyone's common sense when it comes to the safe and proper handling of their rifle. I only posted the "FWIW" above because that question seems to be the first one out of people's mouths when they see this setup.
In my mind, it certainly has a good deal of merit depending on the particular application you are needing/wanting it for (especially for the PDW role provided you have time to deploy the stock, as well as for really shrinking down the size of larger ARs to make transport/concealment easier and more efficient). I too am curious to see LL's review on this and his observations.

When I exit the golf cart, I have to be GTG. No screwing around snapping a piece into place. When hundreds of lives are at stake, you have to have your equipment cocked, locked and ready to rock.
I can see it shortening up a rifle so it will fit in a smaller drag bag etc. I just worry if its broken down and dirt/sand and other crap getting in and around the area. Plus I like to KISS (They teach that in the Mall Cop academy too!!!)
Kind of like teh Rock River PDS design, except the rock river is a piston rifle and will fire when folded. I see no purpose for these if the rifle will not fire, and $200 is a scandal.
Yeah I saw this on 8541 Tactical - pretty slick piece of kit. I'd like to see it fielded under hard steady use for a while to see how it holds up before I run out and get one.
The way I see it...it makes my AR pistol, 16" carbine or SBR even more discreetly carried in NPE's
