Man, this is a bummer. The way it's going we won't be able to shoot till April. Gonna need to put 6' tall stands on all the targets to see them. Gonna need Artic Cats to get up to the shooting positions and even then prob won't be able to see past 300 yards cause of all the snow.

Anyone else having a bad case of Cabin Fever? I think I've read every forum and thread including spin drift, how to calculate moons affect on bullets in each phase, MOA, MIL, DOA, CIA, bullets hitting rain drops or snowflakes, adjusting for wind based on the way a fly is beating it's wings.......... So many reloading techniques I've come to realize it takes $1,000,000 and 4 hours per round to get a match grade reload. Lets get some decent weather so we can SHOOT somewhere.

It's either been so cold the steel breaks on the targets, or you can't see the targets to shoot at them or snow so deep ya can't walk to the shooting positions. Where is Gore to explain global warming to us and Obama to blame Bush for our missed targets?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I'm ready for Spring.

The F350 4x4 mobile shooting platform works great in the snow! The covered topper keeps it dry and windless. A nice piece of carpet to lay on, 3ft above the ground, what more can u ask for?

Targets you can actually see as well as being able to spot your shots instead of the rounds disappearing in 4ft of snow.

Any of you guys going to the Rayners match on the 28th? I'm a newbie wanting to go for the first time after I talked to Tom over at TVP. The gear he told me to buy is on the way and now I'm all anxious to get out there.

To far really? Here is another one to google Thunder Valley Precision. But you want like the distance on that one either. I guess it depends on how far you want to shoot, because there is no place in southern Ohio to go 1000yds
There are guys that drive in from other states, I guess you know your limits, sorry to bust your chops

Re: Ohio Long Range Plate Matches

Unfortunately most have to drive a long ways to shoot this game. There just aren't many ranges around to shoot that far. Grab a buddy for the ride .... it's worth the trip.

Hey, no problem.....it's easy to do over the internet....usually people are alittle more tackful FTF.

Re: Ohio Long Range Plate Matches

Shooters,

You wouldn't believe the amount of shooters I've had over the last 8 years call and ask about shooting..even more unbelieveable is the amount who say 2 hours is too long of a drive and they never show up. I just feel they must not be too serious about shooting long range. We are here if you want to put forth the effort and spend the day/weekend shooting with us.
It's more than worth especially if your new to long range shooting. You can learn more here in one day than you can in a year or more on your own.

I have been to rayners for USPSA, but never a long range match. TV isn't too far away (probably closer than Rayners from me).

What kind of COF can I expect, how many rounds down range, and what else do I need besides a rifle, scope, ammo and something to lay on?

Unless a miracle happens here inthe next week, I won't make Rayners Sunday, but the following month, I plan to be there.

I guess it was before I had my coffee because reading it this evening I sounded like an ASS and thats just not me. Anyways Sorry for the attitude.
As far as shooting Miami Rifle and Pistol, the guy I team up with at TVP is a member there. But I dont see him on here much.

You really should make the drive at least once, its a good time.

Tom Sarver??.....is this the one and same Tom Sarver from Templar Tactical? Tom I had an outstanding time at the 2009 OTOA Long Range Sniper Training. Learned a great deal and recognized even a greater amount of deficiencies to work on. I still did okay in the standings at the end of the week....if only my partner hadn't passed out during the stalk
wink.gif
Anyway, great week of training Tom, hope you guys host for 2010.

Re: Ohio Long Range Plate Matches

TVP schedule is under tact too.
Would rather cook a steak, than bust a chop,,,
But, niether are really that far.
There were guys that drove 12-18 hours, last year, and came back.

The group of Ohio guys is getting bigger.
Shoot what ya bring.
Any questions, just ask.
(I'm still trying to learn MOT and MOWC)

Cinci is too far for me!

Re: Ohio Long Range Plate Matches

3bnRanger,

Yes, it's me. I've spoke with Sam Todd about this years OTOA events and we are working on a schedule. We, a partner and I will be hosting several Sniper Classes this season for LE. We will shoot alot more than before and have a similar stalk planned for everyone. Glad you enjoyed your time here at TVP. Hope to see you again soon.

20 moa base and new rings. Went ahead and got a new stock and a chrono as well so we shall see how th weather holds up. I thought the 3 hr drive was bad until I remembered that I drove 17.5 hrs to miami,fl for spring break last year so I'll just suck it up.

I am about to download a ballistic calculator for my iPhone here soon so I can start practicing with it. Can't wait til spring!!
