Online only sales locally WTF?

Im wanting to buy a pretty damn big ammo order. and there is a pretty well know and reputable place locally. i contact them tell them what i want etc. and they hit me back with we don't do local pick up online sales only. and i will have to pay tax and shipping in state. so why would i buy from them or anyone from my state buy from them. when your gonna have to get hit with local taxes.

i feel like jonah hill At the ebay store in 40 year old virgin. I'm here i have money you take the money i take bullets. I'm sure it's a tax thing. But damn I've never heard of business people not wanting my money.

You have to look at it from their point of view too. Should they get hit with a sales tax audit and see a sale to someone within the state and no sales tax there could be some serious issues. Often times the fines are up to 3 times the amount of tax that should have been collected. That would eat up any profit they made on the sale to you pretty fast.

As for the local pickup if you pay the sales tax I don't see why you shouldn't be able to pick the stuff up and save shipping fees. That of course is completely up to them and their right as a business.

You can thank your State for putting the business in the position they're in.

The reporting and tax compliance will cost the business more money, time and trouble than the lost local sales.

I've seen this practice crop up more and more over the past couple years.

If you showed up at their door with cash in hand, I imagine you wouldn't be leaving empty handed, if you catch my drift.

man i told the guy cash money, no dice. my old man who sometimes gets abducted by aliens in black helicopters said this just proves to him. that if they can't track you they don't want to sell

you really can't fault a business for being ethical and following the rules. Its a slippery slope once you start down one path.
