I received this today, and it is somewhat interesting. No, I'm not 'geek' enough to understand all the ramifications/benefits, but I figured somebody here (or more) probably is:

"Today, Firefox began the rollout of encrypted DNS over HTTPS (DoH) by default for US-based users," Firefox maker Mozilla said in an announcement scheduled to go live at this link Tuesday morning. "The rollout will continue over the next few weeks to confirm no major issues are discovered as this new protocol is enabled for Firefox's US-based users."

(I killed the link that was embedded in the quote)

it sounds cool but i betting it will do little to no good to stop pop ups or unwanted adds and you will always be trackable online by someone always they always know ..

When you think about it Porn Hub could bug the ever livin hell out of a feller, e-mails alone all day.

Non-stop adds, but they don't. It's them fuckin Chinese that get their fuckin fingers in you're accounts from places

Like E-bay is where a lot of my troubles come from I think. Google is horrid with it's spying.

Something to remember is that this "service" basically protects you from your ISP snooping on you to sell your browsing habits to somebody else.
It also helps protect against your ISP and mobile provider being evil and redirecting you to stuff they control to make extra money.

It does not however protect you from your tech overlords getting all the information themselves.

If you don't have at a minimum several adblockers, tracking blocker extensions, and a VPN, you're an idiot these days. It literally takes a few minutes of your time to set up and protects you from so much shit.

Same for any social media app except for snapchat basically. But trying to get computer illiterate people to get rid of facebook is pulling teeth.
