Re: Opinions on HK Custom Combat for CC
Unless you have a large frame or are otherwise able to conceal a fairly large/wide pistol under heavy clothing, etc., then anything in the USPf lineup is going to be a problem. They have a large footprint that most everyone I know has difficulty concealing (myself included). Also, if by "new higher capacity" you mean installation of the jet funnel and use of the USP "white" mags, then it becomes an even bigger challenge to conceal because of the extra height you add to the pistol (roughly another 1" of height to be exact).
Also, the trigger in the CC is the stock, USP trigger unit (Variant 1 DA/SA) and it is heavy, long and generally not all that good. The "Combat Competition" includes the JF, white mags and the upgraded hybrid Match/LEM trigger which is a vast and necessary improvement.
My EDC is a USPc in .45acp and it conceals extremely well for me with both IWB and OWB holsters, but it is a good bit smaller than the USPf. The other compacts are basically the same size, so if you want a 9mm or a .40, then you can get one of them as well and you'll have a much better suited pistol for concealed carry.
Now, for open carry, range use, training, etc., the USP pistols, including the CC, are excellent. They are accurate, ultra-reliable, and easy to shoot (with a little trigger work), but I wouldn't grab a standard USPf for concealed carry unless that was all I had at my disposal.
