Optic for an A4 build?

I have never tried an ACOG but I am using and highly endorse the Vortex AMG-UH1, for me it is almost a perfect optic, I combine it with 3X magnifier for shooting out a bit and I love it.

I had a 4x model several years ago. They don't have a lot of eye relief, which is why I sold mine. Unless you can shoot nose to CH in any position you'll use it, you might have a problem.

I'm an ACOG fan. Honestly, the best glass I have ever looked thru, and that beats Hensoldt and S&B. The eye relief can be a bit on the short side for a 4x, but the 3.5 x 35 has about an inch more. Probably the most durable optic out there as well. They are pricey though, but I think they are totally worth it.

Not a huge fan of Acogs here. I used the TA31RCOM4, TA31RCOA4, and whatever variant of the TA11 that the USMC fields. Also got some time behind the 6x version on our M240's. Saw enough of them break, lose zero, not track, etc... that I'm leery of them. It may be the case that the USMC just abuses them but there's a definite weakness in the turret design from my experience. I don't care to get into an internet pissing match over it, I'm sure if you've bought one yours works just great.

If you're ready to spend $1200+ on a fixed 4x.... Personally I'd be looking more to a 1-4x or a 1-6x.

I certainly don’t doubt your experiences. I actually had to send one of my old ones back to have the turrets replaced bc the windage was way off. But it worked fine after and the one I have now is cool for the last 15 years. I hope it stays that way.

However, I kinda really like that new elcan which is a 1-4 or 6 like you pointed out
