I currently have a Burris "Scout" scope on a M1A Scout. Been thiking of going to a red dot type of optics...mostly for inside of 150yds.
Bushnel Holo vs EO Tech...are they suitable....which is better...or am I on the wrong track.

Thanks

IMO a high priority should be given to keeping the optic as low as possible, assuming you're using the stock stock and not something that lets you adjust the height of the comb.

Been a while since I've handled/shot with an Eotech but last time I did I recall a lot of mass below the window. I'd suggest some kind of Aimpoint mounted as low as possible, to give you a better cheekweld.

Re: Optics for M1A Scout

Eotech works very well on the M1A scout mount, but if you want to co-witness you will need an Aimpoint M2 or M3 in a very low mount. The picatiny attached to the barrel on the Scout and SOCOM 16 is a kinda hi-bred of a pictatinny and a weaver. It is a bit goofy. I put an Ultimak rail on mine, it brings the rail pretty much level with the receiver. It is a solid piece of kit. That way I can swap out from my Loopy IER and my M68. For me the cheek weld on the stock is right where it should be using the factory stock. I tried an Eotech, but the damn thing set just a bit to high without a cheek pad.

Re: Optics for M1A Scout

I have a Docter on mine. It is as low as any sight and very quick to acquire. I'm not good at posting pics but i can email you some and you can post them.
