Oregon fires

I live about 1/4 mile from the beach in Lincoln County. At least where I'm at, the weather has changed for the better. Wind is from offshore, cool and damp. Smoke has lifted, so we can breath again. In touch with friends in Otis area and they tell me the fire there is in the "mop up" stage.
Hang in the valley people! We're sending our weather your way.

Can’t tell you how mad this situation makes me.
I think we are in for more.
IMO, it all depends on the weather at this point. If we go into an "Indian summer" things could get really bad.
Due to the conditions present in Oregon's forests, we've been due for a major burn for many years now. I'm certainly no expert on forestry, but I know people who are, and I've been listening to them for many years.
Just wait till November when the good guys win the election, again. Portland will be a a pile of ash when the "peaceful protesters" are done.

Here is the town of Blue River which is 6 miles west of the Holiday Farm Fire ignition.

Screenshot (226).png

Here's what it looks like now.

The fire started at 10:40pm Monday night and winds were out of the east at 20-30 mph with higher gusts up to 45 mph. It's been extremely dry and windy here for a few weeks basically the worst potential fire conditions I remember in the 62 years I've lived here. I believe the town was overrun by the fire in less than 7-10 hours, so by 5:30-8:30 am.

Heard from a friend who lives 11 miles west of Blue River and he said they had no time to collect anything and barely made it out. Everything he owned was lost. Power was lost at the west end of the valley Monday night at 10 pm. Cellphone coverage is very spotty up the valley.

Basically in 4 days it's gone to 156,000 acres. Loss of life and structures is impossible to determine at this point due to limited accessibility.

Oregon Emergency Management has announced they are preparing for a mass casualty incident based on what the are hearing. Hope and pray they are wrong. They have gone so far in talking about search and rescue, to call it search, rescue and recovery.

If it turns out that arsonists have hurt so much as a single hair on some of the firefighters and smokejumpers dealing with this... then it should be open season on arsonists. I don't care if they are Antifa or not. My assumption will be that every arsonist is a member of a domestic terrorist group.

Unreal.

This video is of an Oregon Fish & Wildlife employee going to the Hatchery at Leaburg Dam which is 22.5 miles west of the origin of the Holiday Farm Fire on Tuesday. Looks like mid-day so maybe 12-16 hours from the fires onset it traveled 22 miles. That means my previous estimate of the Blue River timeline was most likely much shorter than 7-10hrs. Spooky how dark it was then how fast the fire brought light to the area.

In October of '93 I moved to this area due to a divorce and the dam they drive across was my driveway for a year. Yellow dot marks my friends house I lived in. Guessing that property is gone, house on the river with a creek that flowed under master bedroom and a hot rod shop and 1,600sf apartment across the road. Current value is probably 1.5-1.8m.

traitor james comey appointed the current fbi agent in charge of arson in the west, the one that denies there is arson.
"leadership development"?
probably means she stacked the leadership of the FBI with traitors.

November 30, 2016

Loren 'Renn' Cannon Named Special Agent in Charge of the Portland Division
FBI Director James B. Comey has named Loren “Renn” Cannon as the special agent in charge of the Portland Division. Mr. Cannon most recently served as the section chief of the Leadership Development Program in the Human Resources Branch at FBI Headquarters.

IMO, plenty are set by terrorists.
I'm sure you're right ... domestic terrorists routinely travel to steep and remote mountain terrain in the Oregon hinterlands to start fires and help accomplish their terrorist objectives ... objectives so secret and intricate that they could "never" be traced to why the remote mountain fires were started. It's "brilliant" ... I'm embarrassed I didn't think of that as the root cause of these wilderness fires. BTW ... what time does the QAnon meeting start? Can I join via WebEx?

Arsonists have been caught in the act. Looters have been caught in the act.
Too many citizens have lost house and home and all they have worked for all of their lives and way too many have lost their lives.

All lives matter. I pray for them all and I am not religious at all, but it is all I can do for them at this point.

I live in NE Or and the smoke is thick here. No fires close by, it's just blowing in and settling in the valley. Prayers for all those in harm's way.

One thing that impresses me is the way Oregonians pull together to help each other out. Oregon gets way too much bad press from Portland. Portland is no more real Oregon than Arlington is real Virginia.
Amazing, good, God loving people!

True Oregonian's are genuinely good hardworking patriots by nature. The out of state migration to PDX/Salem/Eugene/Bend have severely tarnished the the form and function of the state in the last 25-30 years. It's truly nauseating.

I heard this crap was started due to a gender reveal baby party! Anyone know if that’s true?
That was a California fire incident. Two in Oregon W & E of Portland were lightning, the McKenzie River Fire was caused by a high winds resulting a tree downing a powerline. Not sure on the southern OR fires. Ashland may have be arson.

1. Oh, I could be wrong. Read the rest of the thread and do some research. Make up your own mind.

2. Not all the fires are in "remote" locations.

3. Dont be embarrassed, thats sad :(

Bringing a great sense of humor to my massively snarky post ... is a terrific way to handle this. Awesome stuff !!!
Frankly though ... a preponderance of the evidence shows the vast majority of these fires were either acts of God (like lightning), or human error (like a tossed cigarette or unattended campfire). Even the once-in-a-blue-moon "Arson" determination is usually just some psychotic moron that wants to do something horrible "just for fun". I'm not aware of any in the "Terrorist" category where the fire is started to make or forward a political message or to invoke some terror-based objectives. That said ... if we can label that rare arsonist as a "Terrorist" and shoot them at dawn, I'm 100% for that.

Ok. I am only watching the Fox News channel to try to keep up with all of the rioting and burning. Seems now that more news has changed from the rioters to the wildfires. I have to agree. These rioters, antifa bunch are behind I am going to say some of these raging forest fires maybe not all but for the most part 90% of them. So that they can get ready for their next stage when the presidential election gets here. They are regrouping for their next big agenda push. Think about it. I do agree that forestry management is a big part of it with all the dry tinder and trees. Just seems strange that it is going completely up the West coast from California to Oregon. Just my thoughts. And my thoughts and prayers are out for all of you having to deal with these fires.

If this is true, this is terrorism and an act of war. In WWII, the Japs didn't do this much damage when they sent over balloon firebombs to create fires on the west coast.

Pretty much. I've heard enough to know there are people lighting fires. Growing up in Eugene teaches you to never underestimate the traveling freak show groups. Anarchy was alive and well in Eugene decades ago.

This happened at a friends Chevrolet dealership:

I thought I would share a couple pictures I took headed south on interstate 5 Tuesday morning. I was headed into Eugene/Springfield. I work for the fire department and was headed for my shift. My house was pretty clear but the Eugene area was not. This has been a very sad experience as many people and families have been evacuated into our community and now have no home to return to. I have no doubt we are only scratching the surface of how many people lost their lives. Thank you to every one who is praying for our area and all the other areas around the state. These are unprecedented times for sure. Hopefully we can get these fire under control soon.

here is a bunch of links to fire maps (all over the fucking place, this is not climate change)
also links to arson arrests and related stories.

Some report over 33 people have been killed with dozens more missing in the Oregon, Washington fires, not to mention untold animals, both domestic and wild, perished in the most horrific way. This won't be over and forgotten in Nov., not by a long shot.

Curious to know who you think should be "punished" for this in November?
