Otis Technology Breech-To-Muzzle-Cleaning System

Re: Otis Technology Breech-To-Muzzle-Cleaning System

I use one for my AR15s and handguns. Never had a problem, although I have to admit that I'm looking at some of the more recommended parts for a precision gun, such as a bore guide, rod and jags, etc. Just wanting to try something else I guess. I have no evidence that one system works better than another.

The otis kit is a good kit for field use and should not replace a kit you have at home. You should definitely invest in a good bore guide, rod and jags. I keep an otis kit in my pack along with a rapid rod.

i keep a otis cable, a few patches and solvent in my stock pack. comes in handy alot of the time. like when you get a gust of no value sand storm in the face shooting prone.

nice to have something a can swab out the bore with in a pinch.

good to have for emergency use. </div></div>

Have one also, and have to agree, the Otis is good for emergency cleaning but the rapid rod is also a good thing to have if for no other reason than if you stumble and drive your muzzle in the mud. Been there and done that on a hunting trip, now keep a rapid rod in my stock pack along with the Otis stuff when on a hunt. it is a well made sectioned rod, much better than a old GI issue.

I use the Otis kit as my only cleaning method. The one thing I added to the kit was a pistol cleaning rod to clean out the chamber.
Consistency = Accuracy... I don't think that there is one "correct" cleaning method except to remain consistent with the method and bore solvents.

Some people are concerned about damaging the barrel crown with Otis kits. I haven't seen it happen.

Otis is the only thing I use on all my guns also. Beings that all the tips are brass, as are the cable ends, I've just never worried about it. I have the tacitcal kit and it holds everything I need and has always gotten the job done.

Big fan of the Otis pull through cleaning system. Works great on all of my precision rigs and folds up for easy travel. Much better in my opinion that the old rod method.

Re: Otis Technology Breech-To-Muzzle-Cleaning System

Similar to Otis is the pro shot with a unique pull through jag that I think works better than the Otis method. This is all I use as well along with a boresnake.
