ALL:

I met Todd Fairbairn at SHOT this year, and got to handle a bit of his gear. His gear is absolute TOP SHELF KIT, built by people who use their gear hard, FOR hard use dudes. Once I saw the DK Jacket, I knew I had to have one. So, I made my order, and a nice TINY box (actualy, an envelope) showed up a week later. Inside, was a nice DK Jacket, size XL, in black.

Here is a link to the DK jacket that I ordered...

This jacket is designed to fit sort of snugly against your body. It is SUPER light weight, and pretty darn near waterproof. I've worn it in the pouring rain, and stayed toasty. What's cool about it, is that it is not lined, but blocks the wind better than most jackets I have ever used. I really like the Mandarin Collar, the sealed zipper, and the ample pockets. It has velcro attachments so you can put whatever flags, patches, ID placards, etc... that you desire.

There are MASSIVE under arm vents, that you can actually open, put your arms through, then roll the sleeves up and stow them with integral velcro straps.

This will become my daily wear jacket. It's "different" enough to catch the eye of true "gear guys" such as myself, but incogneto enough to not draw attention from the local masses.

If you are looking for a very lightweight jacket that is tough as nails, water resistant (boardering on water PROOF), and can be worn in many different climates, take a look at the DK Jacket.

The first day I wore this jacket, two of my staff members ordered theirs. I had it on over at Battle Axe's house, and he liked it so much, HE ordered one. It really is, that good.

I've got the Overwatch on order... this is a Multi-Cam version, with Hood, and garnish points so you can add garnishments. It's designed for the Sniper, or Surveillance Unit, and I really can't wait to get my hands on it. It has the same fabric as the DK, with some reinforced points on elbows, chest, etc... There is also a nice wrist mount for DATA / DOPE cards, etc...

I will do a detailed write up on the Overwatch, once I get it.

OTTE Gear is top notch, good to go, hard use kit. It's worn and tested by some of the Nation's Elite... and I am very happy with my jacket.

Give them some serious consideration if you are in the market for some good outer wear that will last.

Cheers!

To add:

The DK is offered in many colors... I just linked to the black one, since that is the one I bought. Detailed, up close pictures to follow.

Re: OTTE Gear DK Jacket

I went with a DK Hybrid which is more like a shirt than a jacket. I have to work in the rain in the summer on occasion and wanted something as light as I could get. It fared well last week working in the rain but I pretty much torture tested it at the K&M PRS match last weekend and it really shined.

It rained pretty much all day Saturday with only a few short breaks and there was little shelter except during lunch. During several stages I was lying prone in the mud and as anyone that was there can attest...no one walked away from Saturday with clean clothes.

I had a change of clothes with me and changed prior to the drive back to the hotel and to my surprise I stayed virtually dry from the waist up. Some water did get in but I think it was because I didn't keep the collar tight around my neck, and water was just running down my back. Otherwise my shirt was largely still dry.

The real surprise was that the jacket was clean. Mud simply doesn't stick to it. And when I say clean I mean freaky clean considering what I'd been lying in all day. The mud out there is this orange clay mixed with sand and it adheres quite well to just about everything...except the DK material. I don't think I could have exposed it to more slop than I did on that day. A bit pricey but it plain works.
