Gunsmithing Oval Bolt Face

I was cleaning my Rem 700 in 243 this weekend and noticed that the bolt face is not a perfect circle but more like an uneven oval with less material on one side than the others. Its fairly new and only has 40 rounds through it. What can be done to fix it or is it unrepairable?

Anyone suggest anything? maybe squaring the bolt face to action or a blueprint?

Are you sure you are not looking at the extractor? It's made inside the bolt face on Rem 700s. Is there any way you can post a photo?

If you are talking about the inner portion of the bolt face rim it supposed to look like that. That is a relief cut to help with the installation of the snap in extractor.

hateca, I guess that would explain, it, it just scared me a bit, and thought that It could be potentially dangerous.
