I'm looking at the S&B PM11 5 x 25 with the P4 reticle but I'm trying to decide weather or not to get the or regular or fine (P-4 / P4F). Anybody here have any experience with them?

What do you plan on usimg it for? Paper and LR steel I'd say P4F, tactical comp style stuff I'd say P4.

My 5-25 is a P4F. I have a hard time finding it against some really leafy backgrounds and every so often on really busy things... Usually just a lil bit of motion on the gun and poof it jumps out at me and I can get the job done. Honestly I think I'd prefer the P4 but I really like the P4F when I'm going for long range group shots or shooting at smaller targets at 600 to 800 yards.
I use the rifle that my 5-25 is on for a lot of things and I find that there are times that I wish I had the P4 and there are times that I wish I had the P4F. I find that the P4F works for me very well as a great all around reticle. The only time I think the thicker reticle would be required for me is if I was doing more tatical competitions.

I've used the P4F for hunting, comps, and everything in between. Its perfect for my eyes.

My scope is a S&B 4-16X42 P4F and I havent had any problems with various back grounds. I have seen much finer reticles than the P4F. I like a reticle as thin as I can get it without losing it in the back ground and the P4F is right on the money. I have never hunted with this scope so cannot comment on its performance in this role. I wonder if there is any difference with the P4F when being referenced in a 4-16 vs a 5-25? I know many P4 scopes have been sent to Premier for a P4F conversion but have never heard of a P4F being converted to a P4. Lately most of my shooting has been between 100 and 500 yards at 10 power and the P4F has been great. I could just as easily use a P4 and be happy with it after I adjusted to it. I have a friend who thinks the P4F is on the thick side so it all depends on what you are familiar with and becomes some what relative at that point.

In your senario I think P4F is the correct choice. I have a 5-25 with a P4 and I'm either going to have S&B change it to P4F or put up a WTT for same with P4F because my shooting is heading in the same direction as your's.
