Gunsmithing Paint prep question

I bought a new hydrodipped McMillan and need to open up the barrel channel a bit . My question is once I'm done, I need to clean up the stock afterwards to clear coat the hydrodip as it seems McMillan didn't coat it .

What should I clean it up with? Dish soap and water? I don't want to bone the hydrodip with the wrong cleaning products, but it needs to be clean for max adhesion of the clear coat .

That will work just fine.

I would simply follow the prep directions provided with whatever clear coat you use, making sure it's compatible with the dip.
I'm sure McMillan would be helpful in providing recommendations.

Is the channel covered by the dip film? You could test it before sanding. This line of questioning almost always arrives after sanding.
