I have an 11º target crown on the muzzle of a 20" Krieger .298 - .3065 Medium Palma bore barrel. I'm looking for a definative answer as to whether or not I can paint the crown without adversely effecting accuracy.

thanks for your help.

Re: Painting an 11º target crown?

I DuraCoated my barrel's crown after cutting it down as a corrosion preventive measure. My first shot at it was a semi-failure in that it lost about 1/4 square inch after 30rds. I guess my surface prep wasn't good enough. I ended up media blasting the whole barreled receiver & bolt and re-coated it. Only 150rds since, but it looks fine. The 11 degree portion is immaculate, even after dribbling GM TEC when cleaning the bore. The 60 degree portion at the bore junction was covered by the foam ear plug, so it didn't get coated anyway.

never used it but i would think that it would not give a good seal to keep the paint out like a foamie would
