So I purchased a stevens 200 this week. I also ordered a bell and carlson tactical stock for it. The stevens stock is flexible and gray. I decided to paint the stock in a desert camo until my B&C arrives from backorder.

I couldnt find the right color brown that I wanted. I just wanted a dark kacki, but non was to be had. I tried 2 different shades of brown. The first pj I did wasnt great. I spaced out the design too much, it left way too much tan showing.

Which paint job do you like more? The orangeish brown or the redish brown?

I had the same problem with krylon's khaki. I found that it was too light for my taste and environment. I hit the rifle with the light khaki and spray the brown from a further distance. It darkened up to a tone that I liked. I do like the reddish brown better.

Nice job!!

Throw a shadow of the orange behind the reddish-brown... I think you would get lots of depth that way. I might be wrong, but in my mind that would be great for the transition of colors that you currently have on the stick.

Ok. I repainted the rifle in the same orangy brown. I think the camera flash made the previous pic very orange for some reason. It looks alot better in person but there is alittle glare comming off it. Heres a better pic.

Is there anyway to make it less shiny?
I have some flat clearcoat, will it mask the glossy finish of the light brown?

Re: Painting desert camo

Well I gave up on the other paint jobs and did this one. I also painted the barrel but not the action, just in case I want to remove it. I think this turned out decent. Its alot more simple.
