looking for more info on para ord 1911 .45. a guy is wanting to trade on to me and i cant find any solid reviews. i know its not a les bear or a wilson. but looking at a everyday 1911 tha twill shoot when i need it to. some reviews say it no more then a paper weight then the next person put thousands or rounds through it and never had a bad word to say. i didnt know if any hide members has had thier hands on one.

My buddy runs a P16 when we shoot 3-gun and he had at least 20K through it. Nice pistol, but he has broke a barrel-bushing and hammer in the last year. Para took care of him and sent him the parts free of charge. It depends on what you are trading for I guess.

I have run para p14's for 3 gun shooting with great success. I carried an alloy para p13 as a duty pistol for over 15 years. Obviously, I like them . One other fellow at my agency returned a para for a cracked frame, but out of 7 officers with paras, that was the only gun with a problem...and we shot them pretty hard too.

My two match pistols were set up identically in case one went down. That way I would switch to an identical pistol. However, in 15-20 years of 3 gun shooting, neither one ever went down. One was stainless, the other was hard chromed so,they looked the same.

The only thing I found was that I have to make sure and replace recoil springs regularly to keep them running reliably.
