Suppressors Para USA P16 Limited 40S&W opinions

Re: Para USA P16 Limited 40S&W opinions

It's a production 1911, it may say limited on it, but a Kimber is no custom either, so you may to tweak on it to make it 100%, no biggie though it's all part of the 1911 experience

Re: Para USA P16 Limited 40S&W opinions

Sorry, but just a few years ago I had a new .40 hi-cap Para and the overall quality sucked. New out of the box it had a bent firing pin and when I sent it to my Smith, he said the barrel crown was the worst he'd ever seen and re-crowned it for me.

My Father-in-Law had some quality issues with 2 of his Para's and their Customer Service sucked as well.

If you decide to buy a double stack frame from Para, you might try calling STI and ask if they still make Para magazines. They have a more gradual taper at the top and are a lot more reliable than the stock mags.

Just my personal experiences, maybe their Quality and Customer Service has improved but I would buy a Kimber or Springfield.

Mike.

Re: Para USA P16 Limited 40S&W opinions

I had one that I've shot limited with for the past couple years and recently bulged the barrel on (all my fault, not Para's).
Was in an STI 2011? Oh hell no!!
Could I shoot well enough to justify the extra money on the STI? Oh hell no!
Did it serve its purpose as a nice capacity pistol for local matches where I'm only a "C" shooter? Oh hell yeah!
Do I wish I had a Para 18.9 instead of the Glock 34 I traded my Para frame and slide for? Oh hell yeah!!

Thanks for the replies.
I have heard about Paras customer service, definately something to be concerned with. I would hope that their CS would improve since the operation has moved south, we'll see.
I looked hard at the STIs also, the Tactical 4.5(I believe)looks pretty sweet but for about $600 less, I can add a few minor upgrades plus a whole bunch of reloading components.
The Para should arrive today so I'll give my .02 after my initial evaluation.

Good luck with it tacgnut, they can be made to shoot. If you need any Custom work down in you're area, call Don Williams @ The Action Works in Chino Valley. Take care, Mike.
