The other day I happen to push down on my pelican case and noticed that air was being pushed out and sucked in through the hole on the front side. Is that normal? If its water proof, why does it push out and suck in air? Wouldnt moisture go in as well?? Just wondering if I am over looking something.

Thats a purge valve. It screws in and out...suggest you righty tighty it.

Hold on, you have just a hole there? There should be a knob screwed into the hole. If not then contact palican and ask for a replacement.

It should release pressure and air but not allow any in... as far as I understand.

Correct. Its not just a "hole". Its the purge valve. But it does seem to let air in AND out. So righty tighty it huh?

The older versions actually had a screw type affair that screwed into the a threaded brass fitting on the side. You had to manually unscrew it to equalize pressure. The newer ones have the automatic valve shown above.

Did a google and got my 1750 with foam for 215 delivered from boss safety,should arrive on the 7th, Opticsplanet is pretty close on price though and well known.
