I'll admit, I'm prejudice against architects, I don't like them and I consider them useless. They put stupid comments on my drawings that tell me things I already know and don't answer the questions that I need know, then bitch about how long it's all taking. I also hate them for their bullshit "catch all" sentences they put in specifications and drawings.
A couple of years ago on a project we were going to use a certain supplier for media center casework but our shop drawings were rejected because the supplier wasn't one of the three approved suppliers. Nevermind that of the three listed, two were out of business and we didn't have an account with the other one. I also tried to argue that this architects firm had approved our supplier before and declared it an equal to this other one we'd never done business with. Architect douche basically said tough, no post bid substitutions, at which point I may or may not have said his specs were bullshit and then he hung up on me. Anyway, we were forced to go with this other company, they were a nightmare, and when everything showed up three months late I just shrugged my shoulders and said "you wanted this".
I'm not sure how there aren't more murders in construction....
