Maggie’s People ask why I am not a dodge fan.

When you are the only one laughing the joke has failed.

Is the "35 yrs" supposed to impress me or lend credence to your post? 35yrs of what...life?
So what model Fiat product do you own.

35 years turning wrenches, seen them all and FCA products are rough around the edges. Also since Fiat took over you would think their shit was made of gold.

TRUCK SHIT TALKING THREAD!

I can't say much owning a Silveraydo that has an engine with known issue of dropping AFM lifters, a transmission that shudders and occasionally shifts hard thanks to GM's shitty "torque management" TCM tuning, paint that is known to randomly flake off (not nearly as bad as early-mid 00s Dodge products though) and a rear window that is known to leak.

Thankfully, despite all the gnashing of teeth on the interwebs, my 2017 LT Poors Edition truck has been solid with only additions being tow mirrors and step bars.

New Rams do look good outside and in, though. Really wish GM would offer a Silverado SS with a LT4 engine in the halo truck segment, if they could undercut the mall crawlers by $10k in price point they'd sell a bunch of them to people who really can't afford them on 10 year notes.

dang, i'm a dodge nut been driving them forever, last chevy i owned was in 2011. All my Rams have been a ton better than the chevy. have never had one problem with any of the trucks ive bought. currently in a 2019 2500. anyway to each his own. id love to have a Trex other than the insurance cost.

Well, damn - that move took some talent. Plants are generally designed in such a way as to accommodate lowest-common-denominator behavior. Best of luck to the poor SOB who has to update the PFMEA occurrence number for the "truck rolls over before leaving assembly line" hazard

look around at who and what industries are going to Rams as fleet trucks.

our fleet is nothing but 3/4 ton gas trucks. all our chevy's in the last 6 years had to have transmissions before 100k, and some needed more than one. not to mention how many times the doors literally fell off the Chevys and a ton of other issues. Moved over to Rams last year after another company with a much larger fleet is running half ton ecodiesels and 2500 Rams and has been for about 5 years now. the guys that have to live in their trucks and use them as mobile offices, love them.

I suspect that the transaction price has something to do with the trend you're observing.

The folks that I work with in the EMS market use all three OEs (five platforms total, including the E-series and G-van chassis). Ford still dominates that market for a variety of reasons, but both GM and Ram have some strengths.

That and total cost of ownership, maintenance etc up to 5 years where they're depreciated out to or hit 250k miles

Chevy, Ford and Dodge can all have a lemon occasionally. My bad experience was with a Dodge. It was a 3/4ton gas burner. It got between 8.5 and 9.5 mpg its whole life. 3 transmission rebuilds in the first 70,000 miles. The dash, seats and paint all went South in the first 50,000 miles. It was my first and last Dodge.

We paid cash for 2 college educations. We paid as we went. When both boys graduated they and us were debt free. But we had 3 vehicles with about 850,000 between them. The Wife and I both needed vehicles and I bought a Dodge because it was about $10,000 cheaper that the equilvent Chevy or Ford.

I just spent some major $ on my Ford. Injection pump, injectors, fuel lines and a radiator. All of these were problems that Ford knew about but failed to correct. At the same time a neighbor spent about the same amount of money on his Duramax. And about the same time a co-worker traded off a Dodge, and took a beating, because it was in the shop so much. I think it was the regin system but I'm not sure. He also complained about poor fuel mileage.

I don't see how the name on the vehicle caused it to fall off of the assembly line though. It was funny!!!

I swear trucks have feelings.

I have 4 Chevy's in the driveway. Wife does her own thing but she's been keeping with trading in her traverse every 2-3 years. I have 3 with over 250k, one over 400k. I am fixing stuff like water pumps, fuel pumps, random little stuff. Never any major issues, never left me stranded.

My buddy the Ford guy buys a Chevy, and he's breaking axles, broken oil pump, radiator blew out on the interstate, lifters shot....

I swear that truck knew he wasn't a fan but couldn't pass up the deal. It was like the truck was trying to get him out of it.

Also have a Duramax work truck, 2018 has 100k miles. Nothing but filter changes. Not a rattle or clunk in it, and many of those were Williston miles.

F fiat. They took over CNH. Now. Less quality. Less parts availability. Higher prices on units and parts

They destroy everything they touch

Accidents like this are not that unusual, while at GM and visiting our Milford test facility I was walking through a garage and I notice a new Mercedes on its side next to a lift. One of the techs noticed me staring and said "Yeah, we just bought that one" it turns out they had been getting competitors cars from local rental companies to dimension check and fit dampers on for testing.
