People's Democratic Republic of Pennsylvania Keystone Kommissar Kourt Upholds Philadelphia "Soda Tax"

WTF

"The payer of the beverage tax is the distributor, or in certain circumstances, dealers, but never the purchasing consumer," wrote Chief Justice Thomas Saylor for the majority.

ALL expenses/costs are payed for by the consumer in the end.

Is it any surprise that when they saw how profitable the liquor taxes were they would come after soda. In Cali soon it will be drinking water, I'll bet.

That being said and this being a firearm site how long before they tax our bullets. On that day I would think a lot of people will start to turn in their un-taxed bullets. Likely at the speed of 2700 fps.

Shows exactly how stupid those judges are... of course the purchasing consumer pays in the end as the prices will eventually rise to include the tax, it has always worked like that. But like a good little Communist, they plod along with their stupidity.

They have been trying for years to add additional tax to ammunition.

There's already a 10¢ / box tax on ammunition sold in Tennessee, stamped and everything, and is why I ordered in nearly 100% of my ammo there from out of state. They're not the "Patron state of shooting shit" as much as they would like to be perceived as such. Taxing ammunition at the federal level to be prohibitively costly has been on the dem platform for quite some time.

The tax on soda is just like additional taxes on tobacco and fuel (and alcohol as mentioned earlier), taxing to effect behavior changes of a free people who really aren't as free as they're told by the government they are. It's also just another Democrat founded and supported direct tax on the poor as well, because it's typically the poor who like soda, tobacco, have to commute long distances because of gentrified downtown housing costs, and like to have a drink to ease their shitty lives for the evening when they get home.

Redman called it.

It's just fucking greedbaggery. You already work over half the year, JUST to pay taxes.

This has fuckall to do with sugar. Greedbags like to see money coming in both ways. Fuck you coming and going. So you'll pay soda taxes per ounce, which will mean you'll have a harder time finding smaller sizes.

As it is I can't find the 12oz. Mexican cokes in bulk (I have to import Coca Fucking Cola as it is to get it with sugar, that's how unAmerican this country is now). All of a sudden, and only within the last year, have 12oz. bottles disappeared and been replaced with 500ml bottles. For practically the same price. That's gotta be indicative of something.

You know, it's hard pressed to find ONE facet of life in this country that hasn't been corrupted from asshole to appetite by some corporation or another.
