Hey all,

I hope I am posting this in the correct Forum, if not let me know please...

Anyway, I was just wondering if running a pinned/welded suppressor on an AR15 platform was something that you folks have either done or plan to do. If so, are you running it on a DI or Piston rifle? My thoughts were to purchase a 10-11in barrel and pin a permanent suppressor on to keep the barrel length sans tax stamp. I was thinking good idea, but then was concerned about all that carbon/copper fouling. Sure I'd have to clean it more, but just wanted to hear some Expert advice on this topic.

Thanks for the time,

Get an SBR lower, or make one on Form 1, get a suppressor and with those two items you can make up darn near any combination your heart desires. You'll want to move suppressor, go to a different barrel length, put suppressor on a different barrel/caliber and second suppressor will cost more then the extra $200 tax stamp.

Permanently attached suppressor has been done, though I personally don't see the appeal.

FCS,

That link you noted was exactly what I was thinking of doing.

But your point is well taken. Tax stamp the lower, already have the suppressor, and just switch uppers and length to whatever suits me.

Sounds good.

BTW - Do you happen to know of any online dealers that will serialize a lower prior to selling/shipping to an FFL? I'd rather get that done that buy one and have to send out again.

Thanks again!

I lucked into a factory SBR complete rifle so I didn't need to do a Form 1 and engrave my information as the "manufacturer" of an NFA firearm.

Basically you'll need to buy a complete rifle as an SBR, my understanding is that ATF NFA branch is not allowing SBR lower only sales. Why? No FET on lower only and ATF wanting the revenue.

i contemplated doing a few on my existing ARs as an SBR. so i sold a few to make up for the money to buy a factory one. i choose to go this route. i should have mine in about a month at my local dealer so i can do the form 4. i feel that i would have higher resale value should i choose to sell it rather than trying to sell one that has my name engraved.
