Keith built a 223 Ackley for me this Spring. Great communication, great rifle. Will have him build another for me.

Hey everyone, sorry I don’t post here much anymore. We’re busy kickin ass if anyone wants some rifle work done. Wait times are about a week on single service jobs like bedding, Cerakote, brake installs, etc.
Whole builds are usually about one month.

We have one hell of a PRS team now and will be posting some kool videos from our matches on PCRs YouTube channel.

Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here so I figured it’s time for an update.
We are still in full swing and have low turn around times right now. Small jobs like brakes, bedding, and Cerakote are getting done in a week or less and full builds are taking less than 3 weeks right now. Give me a call to get some work done.
Thanks, Keith Johns. 4804678090

PS, we are finally getting a decent amount of PRS match videos uploaded to our YouTube channel. Old and out of date videos have been deleted, and we will have many more match videos to come. Check us out on YouTube.

Thanks again

Keith Builds all my PRS guns...6GT, 6 Dasher, 6.5x47, 22GT......the problem I have now is which one to shoot at the match.....they ALL shoot lights out!!! currently running my 6 dasher with the new Bartlein BB40 steel...it took almost 400 rounds for it to settle in which cause me to shoot over a few targets at the last match...got the load corrected and cant wait to shoot it at the next match!!!!

I finally got to make a modernized 416 Rigby. The recoil actually want bad.

Not sure if I ever posted this, probably did, but here it is as a reminder we build them.... 375 CheyTac. ...with a custom made extractor that actually works(the Stiller extractor was too thin or was incredibly soft for some reason. You could bend it by looking at it).

Hey guys after doing more carbon wrapped barrels than I can count, I’ve dropped the price of chambering them down to the price of a normal steel barrel($400). PROOF and Bartlein carbon wrapped barrels are great, and are just as easy to work with as steel for us now, so prices for work on both will be the same.

For the last couple years or so I’ve seen very little runout in PROOFs carbon barrels.... they’re impressively straight. Bartlein too but that almost goes without saying.

From my experience, and I could be wrong, Bartlein carbon wrapped barrels seem to be a bit heavier than PROOF at a comparable contour, which I assume is due to a thicker steel barrel core... which isn’t a bad thing. I like the idea of a thicker barrel core, but for those who want the lightest carbon barrel possible, I think PROOF gets my vote. But that’s just been my experience with the barrels I’ve seen from each so far. Concerning quality, they are both very equal.

When I first started chambering Carbon wrapped barrels I worried about the carbon wrapping getting damaged, I worried about the runout I was seeing, and the 2x higher cost over steel barrels worried me in case I ever had to replace one.... but after doing well over 1000 of them without issue, and seeing runout improve over the years, I have zero concerns about carbon wrapped barrels anymore.

We keep BRUX barrels in stock, and anyone looking for a cut rifled steel barrel should strongly consider BRUX. Myself, my father/friends, and our shooting team all use BRUX barrels exclusively.

Now, if I may rant for two minutes:
I dislike seeing some companies pour tons of energy into ads and content on social media platforms.... energy that could be spent on their products.
Im beginning to lose respect for companies that advertise on the very platforms that censor us and would like to see our industry gone. Facebook is the only example Ill use, because I have personal experience getting censored by them concerning firearm posts. That platform is our enemy, and to support them for profit is something I’m proud to say Im above doing.
If you disagree, say so, and be glad you’re allowed to say so and not have it called fake news like it would be on Facebook before being erased by their system. It’s crunch time guys. It’s time to be the change you want to see in the world. Don’t wait for others to do it first. Don’t support what you believe is wrong, no matter what profit you may gain or lose. Be better than our politicians.

Stay free, stay dangerous, and expand your mind to see beyond the tunnel vision our society creates to keep us subservient. When all is done and gone, the only thing that matters is the one thing no one can buy, sell, give, or take.... HONOR

We’re getting builds done in about one week if all parts are in hand.
Single jobs like brake installs, bedding, Cerakote, etc are getting done in under a week.
Pretty much doing work as it comes in the door, which has been nice. Means near instant turn around if you have most of your parts. Actions and stocks are a long wait but I have barrels in stock and the smaller parts haven’t been too hard to source relatively fast.

We may start retailing actions in the future. It would take a year to get the order made but we may pull the trigger on it very soon.

Thanks very much everyone. I’ll be building bolt action rifles till I die and learn more all the time. I love it.

Down with all social media and mainstream media.

If anyone is considering buying one of our rifles second hand, you can buy it knowing we will completely stand behind it. We are happy to inspect it for free and improve anything we find that isn’t up to our current standards.
We don’t advertise, but instead rely on word of mouth, which means quality and customer service is what keeps us going. We don’t “fake it to make it” with fancy ads and instagram content.

This 7 mag is our idea of the perfect hunting rifle. We build a bunch like this.
Defiance action, Mcmillan Game Warden, BRUX #5(or Bartlein 3b), whatever trigger makes you happy, and whatever mag system you like... this one got a trigger tech and a DBM using the 3 round mags so they don’t hang down too far for hunting.

Package rifles like this when shipping.
Use a lightweight case rather than a Pelican, duct tape the latches so they can’t come open, put notes with your name/number/address everywhere... inside with the rifle, outside on the gun case, and on the box. That way if the shipping label gets destroyed, there’s an exterior note. If the whole box gets destroyed, there’s a note on the case. And if everything but what’s in the case gets destroyed, there’s one with/on the rifle itself.

Bubble wrap the rifle and parts very well, even though it’s inside a case. Any parts in the case should have layers of bubble wrap or foam separating them so they can’t bang together even if the case is put in a paint shaker.

From what I’ve heard and experienced, these shipping companies don’t pay out insurances when things are lost, they don’t try very hard to recover lost packages unless law enforcement gets involved, and they all hate guns. So cover your ass well.

From now on I will be including a small tracking device in shipments(with customer approval). Customers will simply have to mail the tracker back to me in a reasonable amount of time. This way I can see where the package has been, and currently is, without relying on the shipping company.

We’ve never had a rifle shipment get lost indefinitely but a couple have come close.

Brilliant idea. Put a small pre-labled priority mail box for return in the shipment to remove any hassle on getting them back.

Tracker could already be pre-packaged. Just drop it in the mailbox when you get the rifle.

Probably no need for the tracker to be outside its own package, inside the rifle case. Could just be in a small mailing envelope to save on weight and space, and shipping costs.

For those wanting to shoot 6GT using AW mags, there is a spacer kit I can modify to work great. Mine has fed flawlessly.
$100 gets you the kit and milling work to make it fit GT cartridges. You just send your AW in to me for the spacer mod/install.

The kit is ready to use as it comes for 6BR and 6GT, is what the kit says, but I have to trim quite a lot off the spacer before my 6GT rounds would fit and the shoulder wasn’t running into the vertical rib in the magazine. At a glance I thought the spacer would work without modification(looking only at OAL) but I quickly realized it wouldn’t, and why, because of the shoulder hitting the rib.

I use only AWs. Couldn’t pay me to use AICS anymore so I feel for the guys that want to use AWs but can’t.

To be clear I don’t make the kits.

Might be worth mailing a few to yourself to test this theory?

Not sure how the trackers work or how effective they might be while inside a truck or warehouse.
It’s been tested thoroughly. If the tracker stopped working it would be pretty suspicious. And I’d get to see where it stopped working(location).
Seems like it’ll make shipping rifles safer.

AWs work in RPRs…. With a little dremeling of the mag.

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this but AWs are the only mags I run. I won’t shoot a cartridge that “doesn’t” work in AW… but every cartridge I’ve tried to make work in AWs has worked(within reason obviously). Any of the popular PRS cartridges have worked that I’ve tried.
AWs do often need to be raised up closer to the bolt than AICS and I think that’s the cause of most people feeding hiccups using them.
11 rounds of Creedmoor in the height of a 5 round AICS… along with being able to leave the mag in and top fill it(like a BDL). Every round out of AWs feels the same meaning whether it’s full of 11 rounds, or you’re down to the last round in the mag, the bolt pressure it takes to feed it from the mag is the same. Every round from the 1st to the 11th feels the same coming out the mag. I don’t know why most people aren’t using AWs.
Your action does have to be cut for AWs though. Impact and Defiance offer AW cuts and they’re my favorite actions anyways.

If you’re having feeding issues with AWs Im happy to look at it.

When we bed a rifle we almost always put a carbon fiber cross bolt in(behind the mag area and in front of the trigger). You can’t tell it’s there.
We also paint Cerakote into the exposed fiberglass inside the stock so it’s sealed a bit and looks better, not that it matters.

In the above pics, that square bridge in front of the trigger area is actually a Devcon incased carbon fiber rod that goes from exterior shell to shell. You can feel the strength when you clamp on it in the mill for cleanup.
We do several things I guarantee customers don’t notice that makes stocks we’ve bedded tankier than they already are.
New stocks really should be professionally fitted and bedded.

Hi Keith, have you ever worked with the Cadex R7 action mate? Would a modification like this work for that action?
