Pillar bedding my CZ 457 Pro Varmint

I use .5" aluminum spacers from McMaster. Every CZ is slightly different so you have to trim the pillars either way. I believe the lengths I use are 1.25" and 1.0625". That leaves around 1/16th to 1/8th to trim.

Easiest way to do this is to bolt on the pillars, bed the action (I do it without the barrel on), and then trim the (bottoms of) the pillars to size after. I find that easier than trying to get the lengths perfect beforehand. A piloted counterbore makes the job dead simple, but with aluminum standoffs a forstner bit in the drill press might also work.
