Took the new to me Steiner TX5I to the range. Zeroed the scope. Shot a bunch of groups. Everything worked fine, came home and gave the elevation turret a spin and it doesnt click anymore.
Anyone have any suggestion as to what I am doing wrong. Any help appreciated

new developement. If I push down on the turret and spin, I hear and feel the clicks. But then it turns like 10 mils and the clicks disappear.I think if I think it might be an opportunity to check out the Heritage Wrranty. Love the scope, just trying to figure out what the heck is going on

I have the 3x15 version, if I losen the set screws and don’t push down on the turret before tightening I can replicat the issue, try pushing down on the turret then tighten the screws

ok. Thanks, I think that is the case.
how tight do you tighten those set screws? Just till u feel resistance?
PayDirt, I am sure its a one off issue. Probably my hamfistedness. Need to go spend some family time, be back to this after the civilized people in the family go to sleep

I will give this a try. Did u also run into the issue where it only turns like 10 mils and then you feel a wall?

Not exactly, I did have the issue where if I was coming down from the second rotation the zero stop would engage unless I went all the way to the top and back down again. It hasn’t done it since and tracks well to 20 Mils so I ignored it.

hmmm I think it has to do with the clicking mechanism engaging a detent of some sort. Going to try loosening the set screws, pushing down and hen retightening

I reread my last post and forgot to mention to hold the turret down the entire time you tighten the screws,

hold it down with decent pressure while you do this.

Lol. I read this right after I leaned on the turret with my fist before tightening. Seems to have done the job.
It really is a great scope. Just has a few idiosyncrasies it seems.
Clicks seem to be back for the full range of travel. Need to rezero again, but eh no biggie,
Yeah I was holding down pressure and then letting up before I tightened. With consistent pressure, all is good.
Thank you very very much.
