Poor mans Manners

I go cheap on some things from time to time and for a new build, I decided to go down the path of a KRG Bravo to house my Bighorn Origin and Proof CF barrel. Their look is a little bland but with some spray paint and sponges, you too can have a poor mans manners. Hopefully this will inspire others to try and paint their own stocks because if I can do it, anyone can.

Looks really good. I really got to paint mine and stop putting it off.

Thanks guys! And the barrel contour is proof Sendero. I think there is room for an M24 contour. Reach out to KRG, I heard their CS is awesome.

I highly recommend trying to paint your own stock. Good thing is, if you fuck it up you can either remove the paint or just paint over it!
The inspiration came from an old thread from @Jackomason I found through a search. He did a phenomenal write up in depth of the process.

Here’s the ingredients- mix the two copper colors together. I’ve been trying to think of a catchy name for the camo that emphasizes cheapness but have had little luck.

I can only speak for my self but i love diy when you can rather than throwing money if you can build it your self or make something better all the more power to you . you can call it being cheap I think of it as ingenious and to me your rifle looks great .

I enjoy the process of DIY and the satisfaction it can bring rather than the saving money aspect. Outside of this painting job, most of my DIY projects for guns and tasks around the house can end up costing me more the first time, but I now know how to perform said task and have the tools to do it again.

I took that route as well, but your camo came out better than mine!

Wow! That looks great! I have a bravo in FDE and now you have me thinking about rattle can camo.....

These look great -- Giving me confidence to do it to my own Bravo.

Like "Kentucky Marksman" asked, what kind of sponges do you recommend?

Sweet! What contour barrel is that? Does the Bravo accept an M24 contour?

it will fit a THICK ass truck axle that we've all been dying to use.

The bravo really doesn't have a barrel restriction.

Definitely get seas sponges. Any craft store will have them and sometimes Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I've used drywall sponges and plucked out areas so they'd be more like sea sponge. Just about any sponge works if you do it that way.

Check out the other member's thread I quoted a few posts down from my first. He goes into great detail on the process, much better than what I could. But to answer your question, I sprayed the paint on a piece of cardboard, dipped the sponge in the paint, and then onto the gun! Good luck and post your results if you give it a whirl!

I sprayed a fair amount on the sponge then applied it to the stock when I did mine; mind you I took the fore-end and the buttstock off the backbone to do it.
