I have been saying that we have a huge percent of the population procreating that previously would have never survived long enough to do so.
I am definitely convinced that a huge percentage of our mental and physical issues as a population are driven by this unfiltered metric.
Not a popular thing to say but logically it is 100% spot on.
That being said, I also 100% believe there are secondary diet, drug and environmental factors that are driving additional health issues throughout the population.
The combination of a genetically degraded population coupled with shitty intakes make for a exponentially fucked up outcome.

I’d be interested in viewing this from different angles. As a note, I have very little medical/genetic knowledge — pardon my ignorance.
How much of ASD (in its mildest forms) is a unique “feature” or “expression” of genes? For instance, the ‘savant’ and ‘eccentric’ is a common Western stereotype.
Many of these people are (a) incredibly intelligent, (b) view problems in interesting ways, (c) have a high attention to detail, (d) compulsive/obsessive focus in particular domains. They also have many weaknesses.
Is the West advanced/successful, in part, because we have allowed and accepted these genetic outliers for hundreds of years. We incorporate them into society and give them the freedom to utilize their unique strengths.
