A few comments here:
When my folks got married, they built their house in the new part of Memphis. Germantown. (now Germantown is a wreck too from what I hear). Mom often stated how glad she was they moved out of the MEM area. I'd guess it hit her in the mid-late 70's Memphis was never to be fixed.
Memphis, as long as I've been alive (nope, I wasn't born there), has been a DUMP. They had a good run with WONDERS exhibits which tried so desperately to bring world class exhibits and culture to the city.
Nashville better wake the ever-loving F up and note...this is what you get when you liberalize your city government. All that big, and I mean BIG, Kaliforni money (the ones with those 20K sq foot homes in Brentwood/Franklin) better realize they FLED Kalifnorni for this very reason - they may not want to admit it; but it's true. At current rate I give BNA 5 more years at best before this shit becomes a semi-regular occurance there.
