I agree that this will DEFINITELY be used by socialist libs the first chance they get, but I'm tired of dancing around the issue. They can either kill the 2nd amendment or they can't. Maybe it's time to find out. Maybe they have to F around enough to bring about a strong response so that they won't try it again for a long while. I don't want the issue hanging around for my kids to have to deal with.
I think the Republican form of government is able to change and adapt (often not for the good) if it is based on the rule of law, and majority rule with minority rights. That is not to say that key constitutional checks on power haven't been removed by the very progressives pushing for central control, but even with the progressive amendments to the Constitution harming our Republic we are still strong, and the truth eventually takes the day even when you go through a period of madness like the Obama/Biden years.
Europe, with their parliamentary systems and lack of any inalienable rights for their citizens, have no inoculations and much fewer checks on the power of elites, so nothing ever changes and it keeps getting worse till it blows up completely. So no, in countries like the UK and France I don't see anything but a violent takeover being at all possible. Their leaders have shown their willingness to silence and imprison their own citizens for wrong think, and a government that will attack it's own citizens for not believing in it's fantasies can't really be reasoned with or changed constructively. That said, these modern, totalitarian, surveillance states are exceedingly difficult to overthrow. It will likely be very bloody and nasty, and by that I mean even worse than most civil wars.
