i have a passed down 20 year old RCBS powder measure that chokes constantly on this powder. it takes sometimes 5-6 throws to get the thing to work...

i have a rcbs stand. will the rcbs competition rifle measure handle this powder more reliably?

i don't need something exactly to my load. i am used to using a dummy primed 308 cartridge to top of the load to the exact charge. i just need something that will throw h1k powder

When using a long stick powder like H1000, Varget or IMR4064 or whatever your best bet is an RCBS Charge master or similar due to shearing and cutting the sticks of powder which causes inconsistency in your charge weights. They just don't play nice in those or atleast that has been my experience.

If you dont want to spend that much and allready have an accurate scale the Lee powder scoops and a powder trickler will do you well.

With stick/extruded powders I always scooped the bulk and trickled the remainder into a pan on a scale/balance. That POS Lee PPM seems to do alright in terms of not binding compared to the Uniflow, but I never compared the Lee's drop weight consistency.

As long as your throw/technique is consistent the Lee And Redding Benchrest will throw extruded powders within a tenth every time, you just have to be consistent with your throw.
