The Wilson Combat Whisper® Series Suppressors

For over a decade we have been testing dozens of the competitor’s suppressors looking for the best match of noise attenuation, portability and hard-use durability geared toward the serious shooter.

The Wilson Combat Whisper® Titanium Suppressor is the result of this exhaustive evaluation.

Looks promising. I will be interested to see some first-hand accounts of the performance of these units...especially their .30cal can. Also, with these being Wilson Combat units, I wonder if a .45acp can is planned for a later release...I mean come on, it only seems reasonable from a 1911 outfit like WC that they'd make a .45acp variant (yes...I realize they do other weapons platforms too).

I'd go with the known suppressor company and wait till the bugs, if any, are worked out with the new can. Wilson is marketing this can for a variety of calibers that lead me to wonder if the Ti will stand up to 5.56/7.62 semi auto use. The QD attachment is not really QD either.

like the first post states, the testing has been done, Wilson Combat wouldn't put it out there if there were any "bugs".

Why don;t you look at the other ones out there. Hold up to semi-auto fire? are you seriously asking that question? Do you own a suppressor?

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

I will point out that Lowlight's post was a "cut'n'paste" from the Wilson site, the "we" is Wilson Combat.

My question is this: has anyone tested the new Wilson can side-by-side with the big players on the market?

I am a fan of Wilson stuff, I've owned many of their products, this isn't a discussion of whether one likes Wilson or does not, it is a discussion of whether their new can is as good as others, similarly priced, on the market now.

Has anyone run one next to an HVT/Sandstorm/FA762/etc?

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

Im interested to see the mount set-up for it. The devils in the details...

However, im curious how silencerco will stack up against this with their new rifle can they're working on

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

    FYI,

I was just passing this along I have had not other contact with Wilson other than getting the press release from their marketing team.

I too am interested in this suppressor, but really this is as far as I have gone. I will stop by their booth at SHOT and see what can be done.

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

Did Wilson Combat even have a booth at SHOT last year? I don't think I remember seeing them there. I know Bill Wilson was there as I had dinner with him, his wife and the Wilson Combat crew last year.

But I am definitely looking to seeing more info and testing about this suppressor.

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

These are $1200 thread-on suppressors made from all Ti that are intended use on a semi-full auto rifle? No thanks. I'd be kinda' unsure of their ability to handle the heat (no indication of what grade Ti) and pretty sure they could end up backing off the mount at the wrong time. As a bolt gun suppressor they would have a better chance.

I don't know jack about the internals or the numbers (Wilson won't say) but this would appear to be similar to a Jet Fat-Can suppressor at a Jet price but with a better name and customer service. If you've got a Jet, the mounting system will look very familiar.

Re: Press Release: Wilson Combat Whisper Suppressors

WW, thanks for the link, I rarely read ST and your link reminded me why. Still, I think it is a must read as Wilson's own representative comes on and makes statements that are well worth the read if only to get a sense of what constitutes their concept of suppression reality and their place within it.

    Thanks for posting the link.

I like the ergonomics of the test can. With the increased volume of the test can versus the 223P what was the effect in muzzle flash suppression, sound suppression and heat generation?

How many people have full auto rifles? I think what Wilson has done is sound. They have produced a suppressor with reasonably large internal volume, with massive surface area, without weight penalty over smaller silencers of similar weight.

It may be a great product for hunters and sport shooters who don't have full auto weapons. I do however think sound performance data- IE X barrel length, X ammunition type, = ___result with the product, would be pretty helpful and could not be misinterpreted or harm sales, unless it is a product like the Tac Sol Karma 5.56 can which costs $650 and provides 15DB reduction in sound which is probably comparable or less than the Ops M4S which costs something like $300 and is half the size.
