I’m wanting to get a clip on thermal that’s not going to break the bank since I’ve already done that with a Trijicon MK Hunter 60mm. Something that I can put in front of a NF ATACR 4-16x42 or Trijicon 1-8x28 and will be able to go up to 8x. I recently came across the PRG Defense and AGM thermal clip ons. What if any, clip on thermal scopes can be found that have very good images for predator hunting out to 350-400 yards that are less than $3500-$4000?

@wigwamitus had some posts on here about some of their units if memory serves

The next unit I know of is the pulsar FXQ models, and you won't but them new for that... But you can certainly but them used for that much.

For that matter, I'll send you a message

I'm not sure anything remotely close to that price works exceptionally to 8x, but they can be used that high.

Here's the thread on the PRG TC-50 thermal clipon ... the main issue was it couldn't stand up to recoil. I asked PRG if I could shoot it with a .308 bolt gun before I did and they said yes. But, after the first night, each shot would put it out of focus. I sent it back and asked them to repair and said I'd be happy to retest it. But I have not received it back.

Thermal clipons start at around $8k and those that support 8x+ magnification are all over $10k (see the new LWTS-LR) ...

The only options for under $8k are the Pulsar FXQs and the olde Armasight Apollo's.

If you want to hunt at night, you are generally better off with a dedicated thermal weapon sight. You should be able to get a second ar-15 type rifle you can use as your night rifle for under $1k.
And a pulsar trail xq38 will run you around $3k if you can get a discount.

I’ve got a MK 12 spr clone that I swapped barrels for a 224 Valkyrie. That’s the main rifle I use. I’ve got a Rem 700 223 and a standard 16” carbine. Plus a 6 Creedmoor in a chassis with a rail for NV. I was just hoping for a clip on that could double as a monocular. I don’t have to get one capable for 8x but that would be nice. I shoot everything suppressed so would that prg unit work with a 6 Creedmoor suppressed? Or just stick with the AR?

PRG unit not recommended. Even nucing it put it out of focus per my writeup in the above link
Dedicated thermal scope is recommended for your price range.
If you must have a clipon, then pulsar fxq50 or apollo 640.
