Good take away! I have a 550 and a 650. Good machines. My buddy bought the LnL AP. Good machine. Much heavier, being its steel, and the ram is much heavier duty. I think the LnL AP powder measure is better than a dillon, and the way it works on the machine is more elegant, without the saftey linkage. I also find the LnL primer system to be more elegant, as well as the shellplate "spring-ring", which makes removing/installing cases into the shellholder faster and easier than pulling pins on a dillon. The hornady cam-lock die holders are nicely made. Better than a removable tool head? In some ways, yes. You can change only part of a setup quickly, leaving the other stations alone.
Being that you get a 5-station auto-index progressive for the same money as a 4 station non-auto index, I think the LnL AP is a better buy.
You will need a special universal case expander/drop funnel to make full use of the 5 stations on the LnL. My buddy Dan Kuntz has a patent on them. Very reasonably prices, and a good piece of kit.
I have Dillon and I like them. I like Hornady as well. Hornady is a better value (for sure!), and while they technically don't have the warranty Dillon does, they still take care of you. Dillon's warranty/service is OVER THE TOP!
