So I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a progressive press...Do I go Lock-n-Load or Blue? Just going to use it for pistol. Whats everyone using, willing to spend the extra so I dont have any BS or problems.....

Re: Progressive Press

I can't comment on the L&L but I have a Dillon XL650 with case feeder and it really suits all my pistol reloading my needs and the great thing about it is that if you break something on it Dillon will replace 99.9% of the parts for free.
But I guess it comes down to how much reloading you want do and how much you want to spend on a press.
Good luck on your search

Re: Progressive Press

I like my hornady. Havent messed with the blue, but I have been happy with red so far.

Had it maybe a bit under a month and have pretty much doubled my stock of pistol ammo and non match 223 and 308.

Took me under two hours to get it set up and timed. I loaded 300 rounds of 380 the day I got it. Never again with those tiny bullets on the single stage lol.

Might get some of the feeder pieces, but I havent since I am so impressed with how quick it is already, then again I have been on a single stage for about 6 years hah.

Good take away! I have a 550 and a 650. Good machines. My buddy bought the LnL AP. Good machine. Much heavier, being its steel, and the ram is much heavier duty. I think the LnL AP powder measure is better than a dillon, and the way it works on the machine is more elegant, without the saftey linkage. I also find the LnL primer system to be more elegant, as well as the shellplate "spring-ring", which makes removing/installing cases into the shellholder faster and easier than pulling pins on a dillon. The hornady cam-lock die holders are nicely made. Better than a removable tool head? In some ways, yes. You can change only part of a setup quickly, leaving the other stations alone.

Being that you get a 5-station auto-index progressive for the same money as a 4 station non-auto index, I think the LnL AP is a better buy.

You will need a special universal case expander/drop funnel to make full use of the 5 stations on the LnL. My buddy Dan Kuntz has a patent on them. Very reasonably prices, and a good piece of kit.

I have Dillon and I like them. I like Hornady as well. Hornady is a better value (for sure!), and while they technically don't have the warranty Dillon does, they still take care of you. Dillon's warranty/service is OVER THE TOP!
