Proof 6.5 Creedmoor - 20" or 22"

Building a lightweight AR10 on the Xanthos platform and can't decide between these barrel lengths.

Any input on realistic velocity differences suppressed are welcomed!

Which would you choose for shooting inside of 1500 yards at 5-8,000 ft elevation with a side of hunting, etc?

I have a 26" Desert Tech in 6.5 Creed that holds great groups at 1760 yards and I'd like it's playmate to kick at its heels, if possible.

If you can live with 80 fewer FPS for 140s and 50 fewer for 120s, go with the shorter barrel.

Go 20 inches... my math says its a good compromise.

I saw the same thing. I'm sure 22" is a bit of an outlier but it certainly got my attention. At my elevations, all I need is 2650 out of the 140s to get to 1500 yards supersonic.

i have a 20 inch AR10. 2720 with 123grn amax was a stout load. You might get 2650 with 140s i have loaded 143 ELDX but have not chronoed them yet.

20 inches all day, if you are wanting to use for hunting even part-time shave all the weight you can.

Good call - I purchased a 20" proof and should have it here in about 12 days. I'll report back on velocities with both 123 and 140 loads. Thanks for all the input!
