Long story short, I have a Howa mini action that I had chambered in .223 AI, and found that while I was able to single-feed non-fire formed .223 rounds with no problems, the steeper shoulder of the AI cartridge tended to prevent smooth feeding. After chewing on the problem for awhile, I remembered a single shot follower that I had purchased for one of my T3s... and though it was initially too wide to fit into the Howa mini action magazine, a bit of time with some sandpaper rectified the issue. It isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but I got it to fit, and it feeds fire formed rounds just fine.
