Night Vision Question about PVS-7 & preventing tube damage

I own a PVS7-3P & love the unit. What I want to know is how much direct light exposure is damaging to the device. I've talked with customer service at ATN & have received mixed answers.

To be specific, can I use the PVS-7 in an urban at night or will common light sources (i.e., vehicle headlights, street lights, exterior house bulbs, people wearing headlamps while walking their dogs, etc.) pose a threat to the integrity of the tube? Is there a safe viewing distance or does any exposure damage the unit? What about a dark suburban neighborhood vs. a dimly lit area of a city?

Also, is there a warning sign (i.e., "chicken wire") that what I am viewing might be too intense?

I am not using this unit in daylight conditions, even with the lens cap; this is specifically about night time activities in an urban setting, mostly my own neighborhood total black hours. Thanks for your thoughts
