I received and installed an old style trigger on my SPS Varmint after the X-Mark Pro trigger it came with broke.
The problem though hopefully not a problem is than the trigger is good as installed. Very good in fact.3 lbs according to a friends trigger pull gauge, very crisp and no over-travel. I never adjusted anything. The sealant (yellow)is still intact on the adjusting screws. This is supposed to be a "new takeoff" trigger I bought through Nimrich Gun Works.
There are no problems with slam fires and all seems well but I'm just a little nervous because this is just not how my luck goes.
Could there be a problem or did I just get lucky?
Thanks for any thoughts on this.

some of the best triggers i own are stock remmy triggers that have been made love to by a professional gunplumber utilizing a stone and some aftermarket springs.......way under the 3lbs you state....

That I understand but this is supposedly a new unworked trigger. I may indeed have no problems but this is a pretty big safety concern and I want to be fairly sure before taking it to the range.

Ok Thanks both of you. I did the bounce thing, no problems. Guess I'll stop worrying and try it out.

I believe that the proper check is:
With a clear and safe weapon, pointed in a safe direction, with the safety on, pull the trigger, then take the safety off (no trigger pull) if it does not fire, you are pretty much good to go, the drop test is a good idea also.
They allegedly had an accidental discharge where a son shot and killed his Mom, story was basically, when he took it off safe to empty the chamber, gun discharged. (years ago)
