Ok, I have a new RCBS chargemaster 1500 and I was reading the links about the reprogramming and straw trick. These links were from 2009.

My question is that with these newer models, is it necessary to reprogram? It seems to dispense rather well, with the exception of overthrowing about every 5 loads with varget. But I figured the straw trick might fix that though.

Any input on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Question about reprogramming the RCBS CM

Try the reprogramming. You can program it to increase the spread from high to low (or medium) to reduce the over throws. Try something round that fits on the outside of the dispensing tube to help also. I taped a piece of cardboard around the tube and it helps a lot. I slide it in and out depending on what type of powder I'm throwing. I slide it furthest out when using extruded powder.

The parameters that you edit just dictate at which speed away from the target charge, that the CM will go from Hi to Med, Med to Slow, Slow - trickle.

I cant remember what my figures are off the top of my head but I ended up slowing it down just a little. I get too many overthrows even with the McDonalds straw
