Question about switching barrels

Thought I'd ask the masters.

I have several rifles built on Savage actions, both long and short. I am thinking of swapping barrels between a couple of my different stocks. In other words, take the barrel off the SSS stock and put it on the Maners stock. Both stocks are bedded to the recievers (the receiver will remain with it's bedded stock, only the barrels are going to be swapped).

If I do this, will I need to work up loads again or should what shot excellent on the original rifle now shoot as well once the barrel is swapped? (Hope this all makes sense).

What say ye?

Re: Question about switching barrels

i would assume you would have to rework the loads a bit. probably not much since your head space is easily controlled but there are other factors as well that I'm not 100% sure about.

There are so many variables that you'd thing you would. But if you get bbl tension the same and HS is the same, you shouldn't have to completely work up a load...possibly tweak but start from scratch, I doubt it.
