Question about the TRG

I wanted to check with you guys about the different TRG stocks. There seems to be alot of confusion about the different materials and/or construction between the black and green stock. I received what I thought was a green stock to update the lighter, less robust black stock on a blued TRG 42. The green stock i received was approximately 4 oz heavier and had a somewhat gritty or rough texture to the finish compared to the black stock. Can anyone with a green stocked TRG confirm that this is the way this stock should feel? The cheek piece seems to be a completely different material also.

Thanks for any help...

Jay

Re: Question about the TRG

I have a green stocked TRG22 I dont know about the weight difference but mine does have a bit of light texture to the finnish. It also is black under the green paint (I have chipped a little off). I have heard the green stocks are just the black ones but painted. I could not see why Sako would make two different ones , I have heard the 41/21 rifles were different than the 42/22 rifles in several ways.

Finnish...haha

I have heard that some of the stocks were painted. I tested that theory on this one when I got it and it appears to not be just painted. It's hard to know what the good old folks at Sako were doing making all those different types of stocks. Gives us something to fret over I suppose....

Re: Question about the TRG

Mine is desert tan and it also has the texture. They all do. However, there is a weight difference between the green stock and the others. Now, I can't find it, so don't quote it as gospel...I read the green stocks had an extra reinforced zone within the stock. A bit more metal would equate to a bit more weight. This was done because the green was the mil spec version for the Finnish forces. Again, that is what I remember...could be wrong.
