I just want to make sure I understand how to zero and reset the turrets on my 10x42. Just got the scope in today, but there are no instructions and I am very new to scopes.

after all adjustments are made for elevation and windage and my poa and poi are the same, all I need to do is remove the 3 screws and reset the turret so that the "0" on the knob is on the line on the turret housing?

i noticed that the line on the turret housing is marked from 1-9 but the knob will not go all the way down to 1. it stops at 2.

so lets say that for a perfect poa/poi i end up at 4 on the elevaton and 5 on windage. I will reset the turret so the 0 on the knob is on the line and i just have to remember where they need to be set for a zero at that given distance?

i know this is a really low level question, but i just want to make sure i am understanding it correct.

I'm not an expert but had that scope for a bit. I think what you're seeing when you say the scope only goes to 2 is that your at the end of travel for that direction. I can't remember the exact values of MOA total in the scope. Each click is 1/4 MOA IIRC. You're correct on the knob zeroing. You sight in at say 100 yards and set each knob to zero. Then if you add elevation or windage and you bring it back to zero you should be on at 100 again.

yep it only goes to 2 at the end of travel. i guess this is correct since both knobs do this. each click i .1 mils
