I'm in the starting process of collecting parts for a 338 Norma Mag build and had a question about two different actions, the Stiller TAC-338 and the Defiance Deviant L/A with lapua bolt face.
If I understand things correctly, the stiller is a longer action, has a longer barrel tenon and was designed for a 338 lapua chambering? The Deviant is a standard long action, no extended tenon, and can be ordered with a lapua bolt face? Since the 338NM is designed to be loaded at magazine length in a standard L/A it can fit fine in a magazine fed Deviant?
So, besides price is there a benefit of going with a stiller TAC-338 with a longer tenon than a standard L/A length Deviant? Does the longer length of the Stiller cut down on chassis choices versus the Deviant?
I have a 26" Benchmark 3-groove #10 being delivered today and the action is next.
Thanks for the input, and I did read all 26 pages of the 338NM thread!
