I have worked up some loads using the 208 A-Max and want to make sure I am doing it right as it is my first 300 WM reload. Hornady data says COAL is 3.340" but in the 208 A-Max thread looks like most folks have a COAL between 3.500" and 3.600". Mine came out to be 3.571" just touching the lands. I am using Fed brass that I resized and trimmed to 2.610". Rifle is Savage 110 BA. Looks like most folks are not crimping. I know the 208 A-max is a long bullet but it seems to be sticking pretty far out of the case. Just want to see if folks think there is any reason to put a light crimp on it. Generally, I do not crimp and would prefer not to. Thanks for any help.

I load mine .020" off the lands and they work very well. No reason to crimp.

Thanks. Mine is .03" off the lands. What is your COAL? It does appear from looking at what others have done that the 208gr bullet sits way out of the case.
