As I understand it, part of a federal background check will verify if you are in good standing with the IRS. Or at least make sure you have not defaulted on your taxes. Please correct me if I am wrong. We all know how nice and slow the IRS is.
I have paperwork going through right now. CHL background check and a Form 4. Both are in the "waiting" phase. Two days ago I receive one of those letters from the IRS where they are claiming that I owe a little more on my 2009 taxes. It's one of those good ol' Deficiency letters where you sign a waiver in agreement with the adjustment and send in your payment. I have contacted my CPA and he continues to work through this but I think I may should skip him here and pay this. I don't think this will default me on the taxes yet because the next step is to send me a formal bill for the adjustment. I'm going to send in the money to fix this but is this one of those issues that will flag you for "default" on your taxes? Has anyone been down this road?
